Ben was 20 years old.  He will forever be loved and missed.

 

 That day in Ar Ramadi 2/4 lost 12 men, 11 marines and one Navy medic.

On April 6, 2004 Ben was on a routine patrol when they heard a radio message that four Marine snipers were about to have their position over-run.  Ben
volunteered for the mission, he wanted to go in and help his fellow marines. Along with nine others on the quick response force they entered a battle in
Ar Ramadi, An Bar province, west of Baghdad, where where insurgents fired their weapons. Insurgents outnumbered marines.   Ben's unit saved the Marine snipers but Ben and Marcus Cherry lost their lives in the battle.

February 16, 2004 Ben's unit deployed to Kuwait, then on March 10th on to Iraq. Ben was with 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine, Echo Company, Weapons Platoon, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force.

After the attacks on our country on September 11, 2001, Ben joined the Marine Corp in the delayed entry program his senior year of high school. September 9th he left for San Diego for boot camp.

Heavy Weapons Training

 Upon graduation from boot camp in December, he went to Camp Pendleton, CA for School of Infantry where he took Mountain survival and Heavy Weapons training, specializing on the machine gun.

April-June, 2003 Ben was aboard the USS Essex in the South China Sea, some
time was spent at Okinawa.  After returning  state side he took further
training at Camp Pendleton.
